This is the one of the most popular phone models that LG has put out. It has sold over ten million units of just this one model. The latest “Cookie” is called the “Plus”. It also goes by “Velvet” in some places. It is model GS500 and you can read the low down on it right here in this quick article.
As it is said; “Do not mess with success.”. LG is faithfully obeying this axiom with their line of Cookie model phones. This latest is upgraded to touchphone status. It only weighs 92.5 grams or just over three ounces for you that are in North America. That is super light, but this phone is not a “flagship” model with all the extra goodies. It is 107 millimeters tall, 52.5 millimeters wide and 11.5 millimeters thick. That is just under half an inch thick. This Cookie Plus can fit in a pocket easily.
The screen is the big news about the Plus. It is a resistive touch screen, which means you may need to use your fingernail or stylus to navigate the menus. It is 240 by 400 pixels of resolution and three inches, or 7.62 centimeters, in size. It can show a maximum of 256,000 colors. This is great for an entry level phone that may be your first phone. It contains an accelerometer that changes the screen aspect from portrait to landscape automatically by turning the Cookie Plus on its side. It can also recognize handwriting. The Plus has the unique ability to take a screenshot ( picture ) of a website and send that to a contact using MMS.

The Detective Trick, also known as The Mobile Spying Trick
This cheeky little trick is nice and easy to do, and basically allows you to eavesdrop using your phone on your mates conversations:
- Set up the automatic answer profile in your headset profile
- Set the ringing volume to mute.
- Attach your Bluetooth ear piece transmitter
- Hid your phone in the room you want to eavesdrop on
- Call your phone (muted so it will not actually ring), and then you can listen in to what everyone is saying.
The Sensor Trick, also known as the Secret Prank Trick
This works best on Nokia phones, and is not for the faint hearted as it sets of security alarms at shop exits:
- Go into settings>security>usergroups and then change the setting here to 500.

Bluetooth is a wireless technology than can allow you to communicate with a number of devices such as computers, keyboards and PDAs without the need for any cables. Bluetooth headsets are also available for cell phones, so that you can talk hands free when you are driving or typing on your laptop, and also allows you to synchronise information between various different devices.
However one problem with Bluetooth is that when it is enabled it does mean that other unscrupulous people with Bluetooth capabilities can actually access your device and interfere with your information in a number of ways:
- Bluejacking – this is when people send unsolicited emails and messages to other Bluetooth devices, and although it is normally harmless this can provide a backdoor for fraudster to access your phone and take it over without your knowledge.
- Bluesnarfing – this is when a fraudster uses your Bluetooth connection to get into your cell phone or PDA to gain access to the personal information it contains such as your diary, calendar, text messages, contacts list etc…
- Bluebugging – this is when your phone is taken over completely by another person via the Bluetooth connection, enabling them to listen in to you conversations, intercept your text messages and emails and use your phone to make their own calls and text messages.

You may find that your battery needs charging everyday, and if you are out on the move and using the phone heavily you may be concerned about running out of battery before you can get it charged again. There are a few simple ways to prolong the life your cell phone though, and these can save you a lot of worry:
- Some cell phones are pre-set to ‘Enhanced Full Rate’ (EFR), which means they drain the battery quicker because of top level screen and applications settings. You can turn this off so that the phone is running on lower settings, and this can save the battery from draining so quickly. Check your instruction manual for how to amend the EFR setting.
- Turn Off the Backlight – this is only really necessary at night, so keep the backlight turned off during the day to save battery power, and also change the default setting so that the light goes off after 5 seconds of inactivity for when you do use it.
- If you know you are not going to use your phone for an hour or more, then just turn it off. It will still receive messages and update the call list for you, so you will not be completely out of the loop, and you can just get back to anyone who leaves a message when you turn it on again.
- Limit the amount of non-talk functions you use your phone for such using online features and camera functions, as these use a lot of power, and can drain the battery low in just a few hours.
